Events
Rice/Baylor Mentorship Program
We partner with AMWA at Baylor College of Medicine, and pair medical students with 1-2 undergraduates so that pre-medical students can get advice, learn more about medical school, and build connections.
Women in Medicine Panel
We invite several female medical professionals every year to come speak about being women in medicine, leadership, etc. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what medicine is like and network.
Talks
We offer a few yearly presentations. Last year, we hosted a talk on feminist ethics of care in medicine, by Dr. Brianne Donaldson.
Admissions Workshop
Last January, we began this workshop to help a group of pre-medical students work on their medical school applications. With guests from Baylor College of Medicine and the CAPC at Rice, the workshop allows for interview practice, individual meetings to review personal statements, and general information about applying to medical school.
Check-In Groups
In order to foster community, we group a few premedical students together so that they can meet with each other throughout the year to build new relationships, discuss what it is like to be a pre-medical student at Rice, and generally act as a support system for one another.
